What's your compelling reason?

I have recently reflected on George Couros' blog post: What's your compelling reason?

We are constantly learning to do things so we can better educate the students in our care. We move forward with new initiatives and grow alongside students.

I do believe that we need to inspire our students to follow their passions and I also believe that students are the driving force that inspire us to do what we do.

My compelling reason is most definitely the students:

The aha moment when a student finally understands something you have been attempting to help them with for a while.

A simple smile.

The realisation of self belief and perseverance to not give up, to keep trying until a way forward is found.

The genuine and privileged relationships that blossom between students and their trust that as their teacher we absolutely want what is best for each child and that we care.

The fact that we get to make a difference in our student's lives and to learn alongside them at times.

The surprises in a day and seeing things through the lens of a child's perception.

George Couros reminds us that when you have a compelling reason, you can learn anything and : When you find your own inspiration to learn and grow, it is often that modeling that will help our students do the same.
