DESIRABLE OUTCOMES
What do I hope will change in my students learning?
NEW ACTIONS
What will I do to help facilitate this outcome?
OBSERVABLE MEASUREMENTS
What will I look for and measure to indicate an improved outcome for my learners?
Students will become more self directed in their mathematics learning when they are not in a workshop. We will attempt to establish a positive environment where students attitudes encourage them to focus and remain on task, feel supported and willing to take risks in their learning.
Students co-create criteria with educators.
Educators to provide students with a visual to guide them with where they need to be.
Utilising teacher aide support during mathematics to assist with basic facts.
Creating a maths buddy support system. Reinforcement of positive attitudes.
Overall teacher judgement after individual teachers work with target students. Targeted basic facts sessions. Evidence of applying strategies independently in bookwork.
Evidence of maths buddies working together to check how much work was completed in a session and sign off work in the back of individual books. Improved attitudes.
Students will have opportunities to work in specific boys only groups so they can develop their knowledge without distractions from female peers.
Educators will focus their attention to our target group while roving to ensure that they are on task, assist them through conversation or even encourage them to move so they can work in an area where they are increasingly focused.
5E Boys only workshops and 5E target group. Daily workshops with an educator as well as the option of consolidation once a week.
Rover or coach is looking for children on list and taking note of any concerns or improvements.
Video students : establish evidence
We have established 3 groups: Group 1-those students who simply don’t get it. Group 2- students who don’t engage or take responsibility for their own learning and group 3- students who are capable but avoid work or appear to be lazy.
Video gave us specific kids to focus on as does the daily role of roving in between a workshop.
Target groups are choosing to come to consolidation sessions to check accuracy of strategies.
Students will improve their basic fact speed and accuracy in order to help them transfer this knowledge to in turn aid in their development of addition and subtraction strategies.
Students will have time in set groups to develop basic fact speed and accuracy in the break out space and encouraged to further develop these skills at home and through maths games: dice battle, rockets, online games, basic facts worksheets.
Improved results in basic fact tests. Transferring of basic facts skills to develop accuracy with addition and subtraction strategies.
